Thanks very much for visiting us! Here are a few sites that we think you might find useful.

Walking Britain

While the site design and some of the content is beginning to look a little dated there is a wealth of information hiding among the 23000 pages of walking information that this site maintains. Click on the link Find a Walk and you can choose from four different ways to search for a walk.

Walking in Northern Ireland

This is a brilliant site for walking in Northern Ireland. There are lots of walks on offer across a varying range of distances. This has to be one of the best laid out sites for walking that you will ever come across.

Walking in Wales

If you are heading towards Wales have a look at this site, it provides lots of information on walking in Wales for all the main routes but there is quite a lot of detail about shorter routes as well. If you are into other activities in Wales besides walking you can find it on this site.

 Walking in Scotland

This site is called walkhighlands but it covers the lowlands as well and also includes the Lakeland Hills listed by Wainwright and the Hewitts. Try the interactive map on the main page to narrow down your search area and then choose a route. Not only do you get a description but you can view and print the route and download the route for use on a GPS or mapping software. If you register you also get access to 1:25k Ordnance Survey maps.

Walking World

This site provides information on over 7750 walk routes which can be accessed fully by paying for an annual subscription or by joining as a non-subscriber and paying for individual walks. Even without joining you can still access the individual route descriptions and it would not be to hard to work the route out yourself with the help of a map.

Northern Kites

While Red Kites can now be found over much of the UK this site was instrumental in re-introducing these birds back into North East England. Not only does the site provide information on where you can view these birds in the North East area it also contains details of an 18 kilometer (11 miles) Red Kite Trail.

Walkoutdoors

Walkoutdoors is based in Whitley Bay and sells a wide range of clothing and equipment for outdoors activities. Members of the club can receive a 15% discount off all goods purchased at their store on production of a valid club membership card.
