Milfield to Cornhill-on-Tweed – 12 October 2024
We are just this side of the border for this trip out. We are heading to Cornhill-on-Tweed on the southern side of the River Tweed, go across the Coldstream Bridge and you will be in Scotland. Originally we had the start of the routes as Horncliffe but this would have meant a trip north on the A1 road and then some minor roads west towards Cornhill. It makes things a lot easier if we turn off the A1 onto the A697 which leads to Cornhill and drop off the walking routes along the way.
There are three possible routes to choose from with the first one starting from the village of Milfield. This is the 10.5-mile route which heads southwest to cross Bowmont Water before heading north to Cornhill using a combination of footpaths, minor roads and a track along a disused railway.
The 11.5-mile route starts further to the east and follows the River Till north and then west until the river merges with the River Tweed. The route then continues south to Cornhill.
The last possible route is 9 miles in length is almost all in Scotland. The route starts just over the Coldstream Bridge and does a circuit of Hirsel Country Park before coming south back across the Coldstream Bridge and heads south on a footpath towards Cornhill.
All the routes are really good all of them are easy walks with great scenery you could almost do all of them but unfortunately, you can only choose one. Which one are you going to do? You can get in touch with us from our Contact Page, you can also download the walk descriptions below and the GPS routes here.
There were no images for walks done in this area so the image for this post was taken on our last walk when we finished at Robin Hood’s Bay.
