Leyburn Circulars – 26 October 2024
This is the last of our longer-distance routes for this year. As the days get shorter, we have to restrict our journey times for the rest of this year and into the start of 2025. So it’s into the Yorkshire Dales and a visit to Leyburn where we are going to do some circular walks.
There are two possible routes to choose from, a 10.5-mile and an 11.5-mile, both starting and finishing in Leyburn at the Cattle Market. The 10.5-mile route heads towards Wensley and along the southern side of the River Ure before entering the grounds of Bolton Hall walking through West Wood and then heading north to pass to the east of Redmire village. The route then turns back towards Leyburn passing through Preston-under-Scar and walking into Leyburn via Leyburn Shawl.
The 11.5-mile route starts by going in the opposite direction. It goes along the Leyburn Shawl through Preston-under-Scar and goes north past Redmire to Castle Bolton before going south to pass west of Redmire village. The route then passes through West Wood and Wensley and comes back into Leyburn from the south-west.
Two circular walks to choose from, do you want to go clockwise or anticlockwise? You can get in touch with us from our Contact Page, you can also download the walk descriptions below and the GPS routes here.
