Christon Bank to Bamburgh – 4 January 2020

Bamburgh is another of those places where we have been backwards and forwards, sometimes walking towards it and sometimes walking from it. This particular time we are walking towards it. We have walked to Bamburgh six times over the years but we have not been there since 2017 which seems quite a long time ago. Actually, on two of the occasions out of the six, we have walked around Bamburgh because on the programme they were circular walks.

In September 2012 we did some inland routes from Christon Bank to Bamburgh but with the wet weather and the ground being quite muddy we are going to do some beach walking instead and get sand on our boots instead of mud.

We have three walks out on Saturday, a 13-mile route, a 10.5-mile route and an 8-mile route. The 13-mile route starts on the B1340 road and heads across to Embleton before walking down a minor road past the golf course and along the Northumberland Coastal Path as far as Seahouses. From Seahouses there is a short section of road and then back along the coast to the coach park in Bamburgh,

The 10.5-mile route start a bit further down the B1340 road and heads towards High Newton-by-the-Sea and then picks up the same route as the 13-mile route all the way to Bamburgh. Finally, the 8-mile route start in Seahouses and heads along the coast past Bamburgh and skirts the edge of Budle Bay and comes back into Bamburgh along the B1342 road.

So rather than going backwards this time we are going forwards and if you would like to join us for a forward looking walk you can get in touch with us using the Contact Page of our website and you can download the walk descriptions here and the GPX routes here.

The image for this post was taken on the way to Bamburgh on one of the circular routes on the first walk of 2015.
