Falstone to Kielder – 13 April 2024

Although it’s on the walking programme as Falstone to Kielder the routes are around Kielder Reservoir. Two of the routes are going east to west on the north side and one route is going in the same direction on the south side.

Two routes start on the southern end of the reservoir and walk across the dam wall before following the Lakeside Way on the north side. The difference between the two routes is that the 11.5-mile route follows the edge of the reservoir almost all the way while the 9-mile route cuts across the peninsular at Soney Gap.

The 10-mile route is walking the south side of the reservoir and starts opposite the Outdoor Centre at Low Cranecleugh. This route follows the Lakeside Way on the south side of the reservoir.

All the routes pass through Butteryhaugh towards the end of the walks and cross the footbridge over Kielder Burn and close to the River North Tyne to finish in Kielder. All the routes pass several artworks that are situated around the reservoir. Most of them are interactive so it is worth stopping to look at each one as the routes pass by.

A spring walk on reasonable paths around the reservoir with artworks to see along the way. What better way to spend a Saturday, if you would like to join us for a walk you can get in touch with us from our Contact Page, you can also download the walk descriptions below and the GPS routes here.
