Ravenstonedale to Tebay – 11 May 2024
It’s all the way to Tebay for the walks this time around, although we do start a bit further east at Ravenstonedale we do finish at Tebay. The last time we were there was in April 2018.
This area called the Howgills is one place we do not get to very often. It’s one of those places where you can walk all day and see very few other people, unlike the Lake District which is just to the west across the M6 motorway.
Two of the routes start in Ravenstonedale, the 9.5-mile route stays south of the A685 road and heads west to Tebay and the 10.5-mile route is on the north side of the A685 and also heads west to Tebay.
The 12.5-mile route is last to start and begins the route on the A685 road west of Ravenstonedale. It heads south towards West Hill and climbs the ridge towards The Calf which is the highest point in the Howgills. From The Calf the route swings back north to finish in Tebay.
Walking in the Howgills, almost on our own in the first part of May and with the weather beginning to get better. What else would you want to do on a Saturday? If you would like to come walking with us you can get in touch with us from our Contact Page, you can also download the walk descriptions below and the GPS routes here.
