Club Information

The club was set up in 1996 by Mike Young and began the first walks in January of that year.

The club is non-profit making and to survive needs a strong active membership so that it can cover the cost of transport. Membership is good at the present time but the club will not turn away prospective members or any person looking for a day’s walking provided a seat is available on the coach.

Walks take place every other Saturday throughout the year. Areas covered include Northumberland, Durham, Yorkshire, Lake District, Cumbria, Weardale, Teesdale, Howgills and the Scottish Borders.

On walk days we begin the pick-ups at Tynemouth Baths in North Shields at 08:00 am the coach then travels to additional pickup points at West Monkseaton, Wellfield, Benton and Gosforth. For a map of the locations, look on the Contact Page. The coach drops off walkers at the same points or other convenient locations on the return journey.

The annual membership fee is renewable in December. An adjusted membership fee will be paid by individuals joining during the year.

It is preferable if members pay for a walk when they make a booking. Once a booking has been made payment for that walk is required even if members do not turn up. Payments are not transferable.

Members participate in club events entirely at their own risk and acknowledge that they will not seek to hold the club or officials responsible in the event of any accident or injury to themselves.
