The Last One, Again

Alnmouth to Dunstan – 22 December 2018

Is it the last one again? It’s come around so quickly it’s hard to believe we are coming up to our 25th walk of the year, our 5th walk was cancelled because of bad weather during the winter months. Over the course of the year, we have managed to get to seven regions across the north east of England. Our most popular place, not unsurprisingly,  was Northumberland followed by the North Yorkshire Moors and the Lake District. How lucky we are to be living in a place where we can get to all those lovely areas fairly easily.

In total we have had 904 people out across all the 25 places we have been to and within those 25 places, we managed to fit in a total of 94 individual routes. If you have been out with us during this year, can you remember walking in the sleet and rain during the Scales to Hesket Newmarket walk on the 31st March? We never thought winter would end and then came the long summer where every walk began and ended in sunshine. And here we are once one with just the last one to do,

As normal at this time of year we only do the one route so everyone can walk together, this year it is roughly the same route as last year. We are starting in Lesbury and heading to Alnmouth and then up the coast to Craster before turning inland to finish at the Cottage Inn at Dunstan where we will have a buffet meal waiting for us.

The image for this post is from our last walk of 2014 when the route was from Amble to Weldon Bridge. We had a buffet meal in the Anglers Arms that day.
